Memberships Committee Chair appointment

Chris Parnham, Zibrant’s Managing Director (Operations), has been elected Chair of the newly formed Memberships Committee.

This new role has been created by the merger of the Membership (agents) and Partner (venues) committees, and for the first time focuses on delivering, in conjunction, the shared and specific objectives of each group.

Chris’ election, with immediate effect, will see him lending his extensive industry expertise to direct the committee’s strategy and calendar of activity.  A particular focus for Chris during his tenure in the role will be to ensure that Partners and Members get true value from the association. Areas that Chris will work to develop include member and partner recruitment, fee structures, receiving value from membership, networking opportunities and increasing the profile and industry activity of the association.

Chris Parnham says “I have been looking for an opportunity to join the HBAA Executive Committee for some time, and this newly created role is an ideal vehicle. I believe passionately that an association should deliver true value to its members, and marrying these two groups together allows us to focus more clearly on delivery of the individual and shared objectives of agents and venues. These committees have done some terrific work to date, and I hope to help them move further forward, and generate dynamic and beneficial change.”

Some of the industry’s most influential managers and thought leaders currently make up the joint committee, all from the UK’s leading venue find agencies, major hotel groups, and pivotal venues, but Chris is also looking to encourage some new blood – and invites people to contact him if they wish to join the committee.

Stephen Usher, Chairman of the HBAA said: “The Chair of Membership Committee’s role is crucial to ensure we deliver value to members and partners through the organisation of highly targeted business and networking activity as well as managing all our membership services. We are delighted to welcome Chris to the team; his leadership skills and contacts within the industry will be a huge asset to the HBAA’s reputation as a leading industry body”.
