This workshop takes many of those skills learned in “Skills for New Managers” to the next level by exploring how to manage the performance of people in the team. It also shows – should the occasion arise – how to conduct a disciplinary review of someone who is underperforming.

  • The Legal framework
  • A manager’s Health and Safety responsibilities

  • Conducting disciplinary reviews that meet the legal demands of ACAS guidelines

Target Audience

Anyone who has responsibility for the leadership and management of staff. It will be an advantage to have completed the “Skills for New Managers” course but not essential.

After a career spent in a variety of sales and account management roles, Michael progressed through a variety of Human Resources positions within UK and European organisations before spending several years within Qualtrak, one of the UK’s leading performance management consultancies.

In 1999 he established his own consultancy, Michael Heath Consulting, providing learning and development and executive mentoring services to an enviable portfolio of clients, including:

Increasingly involved in initiatives overseas, last year alone saw him undertake assignments in India, South Africa, Israel, Germany, Russia and the Czech Republic.
 
He has two books on Leadership and Management which are due to be published as part of the Harper Collins Business Secrets series in April 2010. He is also currently involved in a project with BBC TV’s ‘Dragons’ Den’, authoring the Leadership and Management chapters for their new publication out this summer.
 
Michael is a keen pianist and guitarist and regularly composes for these instruments in his spare time. He is married with one daughter and three step children and lives in Chippenham.
